Ageing city.. no, the city never grew old, it's the people..

Sustainable concept is not a narrow concept that talks only about "green" stuff. Sustainability simply means long-lasting. Environmentally sustainable means, in my opinion something that less impact to the ecological life cycle, so environment itself can go long-lasting as well.

From the seminar about Ageing City which talked mostly about senior citizen current condition and behaviour in some places that probably not friendly enough for them in terms of infrastructure or community nearby.  Most of them said that they prefer not to move out because they already feel comfortable.

This is probably a future challenge for every architect, urban planner, interior designer, etc. The problem that could be addressed here that is it possible to design everything from the beginning, aiming to has a sustainable design. Housing, infrastructure even the small things like street sign, pavement. Yes of course, maintenance still needed.

Are we prepared enough?or should designers start something really new?
